*This sweet comic was slid into the wrapping that sealed up the Santa Cruz Jeff Kendall skateboard deck that I picked out on my 14th birthday. It was a red-stained Kendall model with the graffiti graphics on the bottom- it was also one of the first "Black-Top Series" decks that had a thin shiny black layer on the top of the deck- (which got covered with grip-tape). It took a few years- but Santa Cruz realized they should put the slick stuff on the bottom of the decks- thus the first "slick" boards were made- and skateboarding changed forever-- (again)
